No one is spared during the Songkran festival. Water is splashed liberally on everyone by everyone. Those who venture out on two wheels are obvious and popular targets.
Buddhist munks and persons of other high position should NOT be splashed in this way. For those, the traditional moderate sprinkling of scented water from a silver bowl is the proper salute.
